Achieved cheap integrated security
by adding UTM function to existing Netscreen

Introduction
T Co., Ltd., whose main product is non-ferrous metal material, has been bothered by spam-mails recently, like other companies. Spam-mail protection or web filtering is one of the items in terms of IT infrastructure security improvement for which all related companies must work together.
Because T Co., Ltd. has relatively small numbers of employees of around 30, large scale mail or web appliance equipment are not worth investing. However, it required a solution that has all functions of large appliances. Therefore, it achieved integrated security that is cheap and functional by adding UTM subscription to existing Netscreen.
In Installation
T Co., Ltd. has been using Netscreen 5GT for firewall. Addition subscription of UTM function can be done without changing firewall setting and UTM function can be enabled only by activating subscription. As corporate policy for web filtering can also be set easily, basic UTM function can be used immediately. Setting change for web filtering can be made easily through special screen, T Co., Ltd. could start using under web usage policy it requires after only a few day’ tuning.
Result
Before adding UTM functions, there used to receive more spam-mails than e-mails that are really required, which caused them to sort out e-mail. However, after installing UTM function, the number of spam mails was reduced drastically. In the past, web site access by employees was not restricted at all. However, with web filtering, the type of sites to which employees can access became restricted. This has lead to improvement in access to sites that are really needed.
